Default Scavenger's Focus - Good or bad?

First off, I've been away from GW for 6 months and a bit out of loop of skill updates etc. Although I doubt Anet updates skills much theese days..

I'm thinking of making a Scavenger's Focus build for PvE, spiking with Mark of Pain, Triple Shot, Dual Shot, Forked Arrow. Add in an appropriate preparation into that. Probably RtW, or Ignite Arrows perhaps. And a condition primer like Poison Tip Signet. A frontliner would first pull up a group of mobs, and perhaps do a "None Shall Pass!" as the MoP triggers scattering, that should bring them all back on the frontliner. Is this a bad approach or am I better off picking a different elite.

I'm not asking for builds here, I enjoyed making my own builds before and will probably do the same. I do however appreciate any insights and suggestions, especially since I might have missed some good skill updates.

Oh yeah, I do know that Expertise should probably handle the e-management and not Scavenger's, but it looks like a fun skill to play with

Hmmm, looks like a workable concept. Using your elite purely for energy management seems like a waste with that kind of build. Expertise, as you said, will handle that build. Throw in a zealous bow, and you'll be set. Other than that, it just seems to be triggering MoP as much as possible, which is good, provided you can get a ball reliably. Don't think NSP is particularly good for that... actually it's not really for for anything. If you're only using AI this may be difficult, but you could try taking Inspirational Speech and getting a Warrior Hero to use Earth Shaker/Crude Swing. It's not optimal (obviously), but it may serve your purpose.

I believe it works good with conditions so apply would be better. This works great on heros as energy saver.

Yeah, I avoided Apply Poison at first as I planned on spiking a single target while MoP deals massive damage around it. AP would only have effect on first hit as it have o secondary uses. In that case I think Poison Tip Signet is better together with a more offensive preparation. Since you have points in Wilderness already, Kindle or Ignite should probably do a great deal of damage.

The idea from the start with spiking with MoP was to use it's armor ignoring damage to overcome heavy armors in HM. If the war or derv balling up the mobs with an AE snare like Veil of Thorns/Aura of Thorns, it should be easier to keep them from scattering. Then again Splinter might be good to get a 3-4 extra MoPs to trigger.

7 arrows in a burst would trigger MoP up to 7 times @16 curses, that's 294 armor ignoring damage. 4 splinters brings it up to 462.
Snare and Rigor Mortis would ensure all arrows hit.
